Overview
Annapurna Heli Trek is an exhilarating trek into the lap of the giant Annapurna, from which we take a helicopter flight to Pokhara. The ascent offers a magnificent trek through lush rhododendron forests and natural cascading waterfalls, and we substitute the ascent with a helicopter flight to Pokhara, offering a second chance to witness the entire Annapurna massif.
Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek has become one of the most rewarding treks in the Annapurna Region. This trek takes us to the rural foothills of Annapurna, where we experience beautiful traditional settlements of different ethnic groups, winding rivers, cascading waterfalls, deep and dense vegetation, including rhododendrons, picturesque landscapes, and much more. We also have insight into the cultures and lifestyles of people from different ethnic groups. Some endangered wildlife species and, most importantly, breathtaking mountain views are memories for a lifetime.
Trip Highlights
Breathtaking mountain views of the Annapurna Massif, including beautiful Machhapuchhre.
Cascading waterfalls, ethnic groups' lifestyles, and settlements.
Magnificent Trekking experiences of the Annapurna Base Camp Heli Tour.
Unique and endangered species of flora and fauna in the Annapurna Conservation Area.
Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek commences from Pokhara after we have a short flight or a drive (8-9 hrs) from Kathmandu. Pokhara itself is a tourist hub, with natural attractions such as waterfalls and lakes. We continue to Nayapool, the starting point of our hike. We begin hiking through beautiful countryside and vegetation. The lush rhododendron covering the entire hill is mesmerising. It is more attractive in March and April. We gradually ascend to Ullery via Tikhedhunga. The thousands of stone steps up to Ullery will be challenging for trekkers. However, the climb will be pleasant. Then we reach two popular vantage points: Ghorepani and Poon Hill. These two points offer us alluring views of Annapurna I, Annapurna, Gangapurna, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri.
Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek is popular not only for its mountain views but also for experiencing unique and endangered flora and fauna in the Annapurna Conservation Area, the world's largest conservation area. Then we head to Machhapuchhre Base Camp, which is also one of the popular vantage points in the Annapurna Region trekking for stunning mountain views. Then, ultimately, we reach the most awaited destination of this trek, Annapurna Base Camp, which again offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif. Now, we have a helicopter flight that takes us to witness astonishing mountain views again and then flies back to Pokhara.

We had a very successful EBC trek in October 2024 because of Team Himalaya! Our guide, Raj, was very knowledgeable in all things Everest. He set us up in the best lodges where we had great service all along. He provided us with a superb porter, who also went above and beyond in taking care of us. Raj was very patient with us and was always looking out for our best interests. We would highly recommend Team Himalaya for any trek!

Everest Base Camp Team Himalaya March 2024
We have just returned from a 14 day, 11 day hike with Raj and Durga from Team Himalaya to Everest Base Camp. From the minute we landed to our departure we were properly looked after and cared for by Team Himalaya. The trek to and from Everest Base Camp was wonderful, our guides and porters really looked after us and were incredibly knowledgeable. In Nepal things can go wrong especially with flights to and from Lukla but Team responded magnificently and found alternative solutions. If this is on your bucket list as ours and you are looking for a company to organise this with I would 100% recommend Raj.

We felt safe at all times , his experience and knowledge of the Himalayas helped us achieve our goal in reaching the EBC! His professionalism went beyond our expectations from our first contact with him for information until the very end. We will forever remember this expedition and gained a friend in our guide Raj!

Incredible Experience by evan
It was an incredible experience being surrounded by the towering Annapurna Himalayas. This memorable trek through Nepal offered the best scenic views and stunning landscapes. Despite being surprised at how quickly the trek ended, the daily walks were filled with dramatic views that left a lasting impression.
I highly recommend this adventure, as it is one of the best base camp treks in the Himalayas with minimal risk of altitude sickness. Although there were steep ups and downs that were tiring on some days, the breathtaking views made it all worth it. This was easily the most exciting trek I have ever experienced.
I want to thank Team Himalayas and Raj for providing exceptional service with their expert guide and staff.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Annapurna base camp with return heli Trek
Will I get safe drinking water in the Annapurna Region?
Yes, you can refill your water bottle with boiled or purified water in the teahouses. It is better not to drink the water from the tap or the small streams, as it might have negative effects on your health. So, to prevent that, you should carry some purifying tablets with you.
How difficult is the Annapurna Region Trekking?
The trek is moderate as there will be no climbing with ropes at all. Most of the trails, such as the Mardi Himal Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek, involve long paths that might require you to go up and down. So, it might be difficult for some people with back and ankle problems. But with proper guidance and enough break times, almost anyone can complete the trek.
Is there a chance of getting altitude sickness during the trek?
The Poonhill trek’s elevation is 3,190 m, while the elevation of Thorong-la pass is 5,416 m. Generally, people get the symptoms of altitude sickness once they pass the 3000m elevation. So, to avoid uncertain circumstances, it is better to get a health checkup and a doctor's consultation before doing the Annapurna Region Trekking.
Can my children and I do the ABC Trek?
Yes, we have had many clients who have completed the ABC trek with their children. Our guides will make sure you and your children are well taken care of during the whole trekking adventure.
What kind of food will I get to have during the Trekking?
You might have heard of the typical term “Dal Bhat”, which is both fulfilling and healthy. Most of the foods you get are grown by local farmers. You might not have a lot of items on the Menus in the upper regions. You will get food items such as pasta, pancakes, bread, eggs, coffee, hot lemon, etc.
Can a solo woman traveler go on the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
Traveling alone can sometimes be the best thing you can do for yourself. But with our guide, you will be well taken care of during the trek. Our company keeps the safety of women travelers as its top priority.
Will we be using tents during the Trek?
It is not necessary to spend your night in tents, as there are several tea houses along the trek. So, we will not be using tents during the trek unless you want to have that kind of experience. If you have, then you should probably let us know beforehand.
Should I need a porter for my trek?
Well, it depends pretty much on what trek you choose. Some treks involve a lot of difficult paths and routes, so it will be hard for you to carry heavy bags on your own. Hiring a porter can be beneficial, as you can fully enjoy the trek without having a backache.
Will I be able to use my phone during the trek?
The mobile phone signal has reached most of the Annapurna Region. So, in case you miss someone from your home, you can quickly check on them. There are also many phone services, like charging and recharge cards, in almost every part of the Annapurna Region, if you need them.
Is there the facility of ATM on the Trekking?
Unfortunately, there aren’t such facilities for ATMs. So, you need to use the service before and after the trek in Pokhara.
What if I get sick or injured during the trek?
Firstly, our guides will sort out the things for you. However, if there is an emergency, then the evacuation by helicopter can be done. For this reason, travel insurance is really important for you as it will help to cover the fees for the helicopter rescue.
What if I left the gears at my home?
You can easily get gears in Kathmandu and rent the required gear, so you should not be worried about forgetting them.
What kind of Guides will I get?
The guides you will be getting are all Nepalese. Each of our guides is experienced, knowledgeable, flexible, and licensed. They are all highly experienced professionals and know how to care for our valuable guests.
What kind of accommodation will I get during my trek?
You will be resting in tea houses and lodges. These small but comfortable hotels and lodges will provide pillows, sheets, and mattresses, but you can ask for spare blankets if you need them. Bringing your pillow would be a great idea, though. Some of you might not be comfortable sleeping without a hot shower. For that, you can get a hot shower at a certain cost.
