We have just returned from a 14 day, 11 day hike with Raj and Durga from Team Himalaya to Everest Base Camp. From the minute we landed to our departure we were properly looked after and cared for by Team Himalaya. The trek to and from Everest Base Camp was wonderful, our guides and porters really looked after us and were incredibly knowledgeable. In Nepal things can go wrong especially with flights to and from Lukla but Team responded magnificently and found alternative solutions. If this is on your bucket list as ours and you are looking for a company to organise this with I would 100% recommend Raj.
Less frequented than the national parks of Chitwan and Bardiya, Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a hidden wildlife gem in Eastern Nepal. Located in the floodplain of the Sapta-Koshi in the Saptari, Sunsari, and Udayapur districts, it spans 175 square kilometres. Characterised mainly by tall grassland, it was established to conserve wild buffalo (Arna) but is home to a wide range of wildlife and bird species.
Here in the rectangular-shaped reserve, you can observe several exotic wildlife species in their natural habitat during an exciting jungle safari trip. You’ll be able to witness animals like hog deer, sloth bear, wild boar, rhesus monkey, barking deer, and many more. But the experience KoshiTappu is best known for is Birdwatching. There are a total of 290 different bird species – native and migratory – recorded in the reserve, which makes it a birdwatcher’s paradise. Although the smallest one among Nepal’s national parks, it is undoubtedly the finest. In addition to the jungle experience, on a clear day, the national park also offers pleasant views of the mountains. Visitors can also travel 5km north to BarahaChhetra, an important religious site for Buddhists and Hindus in Nepal.
